Perforce Protections

Limiting access to depot files

The protections table is used to allow or deny access, or permissions, to different areas of the Perforce server. This section addresses some of the common questions and problems that arise when administering user protections and editing the protections table.

The protections table is accessed using the p4 protect command. This command requires Perforce "super" access level.

A detailed explanation of how the Perforce server interprets the protections table can be found in the How Protections are Implemented chapter of the Perforce System Administrator's Guide.
