Locating Preferences Files for P4V

PROBLEM

Where are the preferences for P4V, P4Merge, or the Help Viewer (assistant) stored?

SOLUTION

The preference files for P4V as of 2008.1 are stored in the following locations:

Windows

For P4V:

C:\Documents and Settings\user\.p4qt

With the exception of these P4Merge preferences files:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.p4qt\merge_windows.xml
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.p4qt\merge_settings.xml

Help Viewer (Assistant):

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.assistant

Mac OS X

For P4V:

The contents of:

~/Library/Preferences/com.perforce.P4V/

For P4Merge:

~/Library/Preferences/com.perforce.p4merge
~/Library/Preferences/com.perforce.p4merge.plist

Help Viewer (Assistant):

~/Library/Preferences/com.trolltech.Assistant.plist

Unix

For P4V:

The contents of:

~/.p4qt/

With the exception of these P4Merge preferences files:
